Velvie’s son, Ben, attends Forsyth County Schools. He has asthma and other health conditions that have to be monitored. Unfortunately, Ben wasn’t living in a house that is healthy for him. With help from the school system, Ben’s house began a very lofty, and time consuming process of transformation. At the school system’s request, Fuller Center Lake Lanier assumed management and ongoing duties for this ambitious undertaking. Through countless hours of hard work and dedication Ben and his family are now living in an updated and much safer home.
Initially, the plans, resources and budget had been developed by volunteers and estimated cost of $50,000. This estimate was to have covered all the materials and fees so our volunteers can fix the house. As the project got underway, Fuller Center began uncovering and discovering additional needs. The project scope continued to change and the need for additional funds increased.
With some creative negotiating, frugal spending and many answers to many prayers, Fuller Center was able to finally complete the project and have Ben and his family return to their beloved home.
